Just when you thought it was safe…. Julian killed his nemesis and lover, Sebastian, when he went out of control in his quest to make vampires the dominant species. In his dreams Julian receives a warning from his long dead love and mother of his son that Sebastian is trying to make a comeback via a blood rite. Sebastian’s daughter, Addison, is approaching her twenty-fifth birthday when she will ascend and come into her full powers. Sebastian’s followers are determined to kidnap Addison and drain her blood to bring their leader back to life. Julian is not going to let that happen.

Vowing to protect her at all costs, his best friend Andre joins him. But there is a problem. Julian long thought his emotions died with his first love. But Addison is awakening feelings and emotions he doesn’t know how to deal with. And add in jealousy, because Andre is drawn to Addison as well. Unwilling to lose a life-long friendship, Julian and Andre agree to make a three-way relationship work. But Addison struggles with the theory, let alone the application of loving two men.

Hurt in the past when his true love spurned his vampire ways, Julian takes his anger out on all witches. He doesn’t trust them, but Addison is a witch and that adds another dimension to the already flammable situation.

While reading this I kept getting flashbacks to another book I had read. I dug through my library and sure enough, this is a continuation of sorts of another story by Trista Ann Michaels, Spark of Magic. It isn’t billed as a sequel, but if you are interested in the story of Sebastian’s demise, that’s where you’ll find it.

In her usual style, the author writes a compelling story. While ménage is not the norm in today’s society it always seems so natural when she writes about three people developing a loving relationship. The tension and danger were palpable and the romance smoking hot. Adding in that Julian and Andre love one another, but are not lovers, also adds an intriguing twist. They are physically demonstrative, which is kind of hot, but both are totally focused on Addison. A steamy read not to be missed.

Chris.

Julian is a vampire who once had his heart broken by the witch he loved. He hates magic because the same witch would not allow him to turn her so she could be with him forever.
Andre is a shape shifter that Julian saved as a child. He loves Julian and is his best friend.
Addison is a witch and a vampire, as well as the daughter of Sebastian, a vampire that once tried to kill Julian’s son, Marcus.

When Addison realizes she is changing, she goes to Marcus and his wife for help. At the same time, another witch goes to Julian and lets him know that Sebastian, though long dead, has followers who are planning to use Addison in a blood to bring him back to life. Julian would really rather not get involved with another witch, but it does not take long for Addison to begin to get under not only his skin but also Andre’s. Will the two be able to keep Addison safe? Can they share her, when it becomes apparent that she wants to be with them both? Will love prevail, or will Sebastian’s followers get their hands on Addison and thus cause the enslavement of the human race?

Blood Rite is a wonderful paranormal romance that I could not put down! Addison’s loyalty to both Julian and Andre is endearing, as is the loyalty each of the men have to each other and Addison. This is a fast moving story that grabs you by throat and does not let go until you have read the very last page. The love scenes are scorching hot and, quite simply, to die for. If you love paranormal romance, then you definitely want to put this book on your “to buy and read now” list!

Half-breed Addison Gray desperately needs help. She is afraid of the vampire that is emerging inside her. Someone or something is also stalking her. Dreams are driving her towards Julian a vampire who may be the key to saving not only her life, but also her sanity. By his side is the dangerously handsome Andre, a wolf shifter. She finds herself attracted to them both. But the secrets of her past may just destroy the new lovers.

Ms. Michaels once again delivers a sexy hit! Blood Rite picks up right where other books from this world leave off. I would highly recommend reading Spark of Magic first, to help readers understand the featured characters. Although Addison is young, she definitely doesn’t let her men push her around…unless it involves a little bedroom activity. She is one of the few female characters that I found myself truly respecting. Even though she finds out some harsh truths and has lived through adversity, she doesn’t let it rule her life. The guys are incredible. Julian doesn’t ask for forgiveness for anything in his past. He is who he is; which is all delicious alpha male. Andre on the other hand is all wolf. They have an almost symbiotic relationship. They realize that although they may want to shield and protect Addy, she is her own woman. When the three of them get together, either as pairs or a trio…whoo hoo!

Genre: Vampire Shape-shifter Ménage Paranormal Length: Novel

Julian thought he’d rid the world of Sebastian, but with a warning from a long ago dead soul, Julian’s worst fear will be realized. Not only is Sebastian back, but the witch’s council needs Julian to protect his daughter, Addison. She’s beautiful, stubborn, and a worst of all, a witch — the very thing the four-hundred-year-old vampire hates most of all.

To top it off, his best friend, Andre, is not only determined to win her for himself, but is positive the three of them can make a relationship work. That’s provided they all survive and provided Julian can get past her magical abilities. She may be turning into a vampire like him, but that doesn’t mean he can trust her.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, ménage (m/f/m with homoerotic content), and violence.
