The most wonderful time of the year…not

I’m getting to where Christmas just doens’t do it for me anymore. It seems to start earlier and earlier every year, but every year I can come up with less and less ideas for stuff to buy for family and friends. I just don’t have a clue.

I did get my neice and nephew something today as well as a few decorations. I love the ‘country christmas’ theme so I bought a birdhouse on a stand with holly and pine needles, a country santa to set on my entertainment center and some pine garland with snow and holly. It’s all very pretty, but…

I plan on taking the kids to the zoo this Friday. They’re doing the zoo lights. I always love looking at Christmas lights, so it should be fun. It’s not too cold yet, although today hasn’t gotten out of the 40’s. I miss my fireplace…sob…Today would have been a good day for a fire.

I feel like I’m rambling…lol. Too much eggnog, maybe…hehehe.

I really should be writing on my story, Dead Wreckening, but I’m waiting on my editor to email me back. She’s a retired police officer, and I needed some information on police procedure dealing with missing persons.

Always try to make your stories as authentic as possible. Don’t skimp on the details. Research, Which I hate to do. I’d much rather email a friend who’s in that particular field. Research puts me to sleep, no kidding. Yawn…lol. But sometimes, research is your only option, so build a close personal relationship with google. Okay, not that kind of relationship…:)

Well, I guess it’s back to work. I’ve stalled long enough.

TAM_Shutter_coversmA fabulous review from  Nancy at Paranormal Romance Reviews!

“This book is Hot, Hot, Hot!”

Bethany had a hard childhood. Her step-father Tom had beaten and raped her for over ten years. When she was “discovered” by Jacob Matthews dancing in a strip club she was reluctant to take his offer of a place to live, no sex attached. Years later, she was his friend, like a daughter to him but lonely and still hurting.

She hadn’t had sex since her stepfather years ago and that, of course, wasn’t sex – it was punishment. She wanted to, needed to. but her nerves got in the way. However…Jacob had a police officer son, Derrick who was a hunk and a half. Derrick had a friend named Nathan, head of Jacob’s security for his businesses and his home. They had a reputation of dating women together and this attracted Beth like a moth to a flame. She wanted both.

The boys had always shared everything. Rooms, cars, girls, whatever. When it came to Bethany it was different. They were both in love with her, it didn’t stop at just lust. Could they make it work?

Then, Tom is paroled on “good behavior” and comes straight after Bethany. She is his! He won’t share her with anyone else. Who wins? Nathan, Derrick, Tom, Jacob or Bethany?

An interesting premise for a scorchingly hot book. My goodness! I needed a fan!! Good characters, good plot and extrememly sexy. A one night read for sure.

TAM_EF_Captive_coverlgI got 4 stars from RT Magazine for Captive. Woohoo!!!

“This sizzling space opera will take you out of this world. It’s a fast-paced story with just the right amount of danger. There’s a great connection between the brash heroine and the delicious hero, and the sex is hot and graphic, including anal play and dubious consent. ” –

Gail Pruszkowski

Thanks, Gail for that fabulous review!!

The most wonderful time of the year…not

Have you ever gone to the gym, then left, wondering if you were even capable of driving the car? That your legs would even have the strength to press the gas pedal? Or that your arms would have the ability to turn the wheel?

Well, let me tell ya…that’s not a fun feeling. Although my son certainly had a wonderful time making fun of me.

First, I hurt my knee jogging on the treadmill. It’s my own damn fault. I have a weak right knee and know better, but did I do it anyway? Yep. I did.

So then, I moved onto the weights, were I proceeded to try and rip my legs apart on the hip abductor. I became a human wishbone…anyone want to make a wish? My son, who coaches me and basically rides my butt to give him just one more, mimicing a trainer perfectly, laughed for ten minutes because the sound of my yelp as my inner tigh muscles were stretched to their limit was apparently the most amusing thing he’d seen all day. He was at least smart enough to remain just out of arms’ reach.

So, now I sit on the couch, legs propped up, too tired to even get in the shower. Now that’s sad.

On a little bit brighter note. my new anthology, To Serve and Protect is out and available at your local bookstore, so be sure and stop by to pick up a copy.  It’s a hot read…:)

Anyone that knows me, knows I love playing around with my camera. I’ve always envied the photographers who could do the ‘photographic art’. I’ve never had that artistic eye, but I enjoy snapping pictures, non the less. Below are a few I took at the park the other day.

The most wonderful time of the year…not

Or at least what invasion there was. I was actually disappointed in Halloween this year. After several years on a mini-farm in the middle of nowhere, I was looking forward to being in a subdivision and doing up Halloween like I remembered it as a kid. The house and yard were decorated, the pumpkins carved and flickering, the spooky music playing.

I was one of three houses on my street that decorated. One at each end and one in the middle. Unfortunately, there was about twenty houses in between that did little to nothing. My daughter and I made the large circle that is out street and I think I counted two carved pumpkins, not counting my own. Less than a third of the houses had lights on.

Despite the lack of participation, there was some interesting things going on. One man pulled kids around the neighborhood in a wagon full of hay behind a four wheeler. One man chased older kids around the street with a saw, minus the chain of course. Just alot of noise, but the kids seemed to get a kick out of it. One man had a photo studio set up in his garage. With a graveyard backdrop, he’d print out a 5×7 portrait of your little monster to commemorate the holiday. Interesting idea.

We had about 80 trick or treaters come through before we finally ran out of candy at about 8:30. Mostly little kids. Some older ones. Some too old to be trick or treating but what do you do?

I don’t know what it was, but this year just seemed to lack the magic and spookiness. There were so few houses doing anything, it felt lame, like Halloween is dying. There’s so much fear in the world now, most people chose to do other things. There’s lots of haunted houses, hayrides, corn mazes and we’ve done them all, but I think trick or treating is dying a slow death. In a few more years, it may very well flatline.
