Summer vacation almost over…yeah…LOL

It’s been a long summer, but the kids go back to school on Monday. It will be nice to have a quiet house again, so I can get some more writing done. I’m soooo far behind.

Can you believe this weather?? Today, it’s supposed to be 102 in Nashville, wow. I live about a hour and a half east of there on top of the Cumberland Plateau. Much cooler here, although it still should be around 92 or so. Pretty hot for the mountain.

I’ve been spending alot of time in the shade reading with my feet in the cool water…:) I have this fabulous little water fall behind my house that runs off our spring fed pond. The run off creates a small creek about twenty feet long, then it turns and drops down into the gulley between me and the house behind us. It continues as a creek and eventually ends up in a larger river about a half mile away. It’s cool and I just love the sound. My daughter plays in it and I sit at the bottom reading.

It’s the perfect spot.

You can’t see it in the pic, but my house is behind the trees at the top of the hill. I’m about to loose my water fall, though. Two beavers have moved into the pond and begun to build a dam where the water for the falls runs out. Little stinkers. It’s fun to watch them swim, but you can’t get too close. When you do they swat their tales against the water like they’re trying to scare you away…LOL. They’re cute, but truthfully, I like my falls more…:) If they would just build their dam in another spot.
